Job Description

JOB TITLE: Human Resources Generalist
DEADLINE: OPEN UNTIL FILLED

Status: Full Time
Reports To: Human Resources Supervisor
Location(s): Sioux Lookout, ON

Position Overview:

Under supervision of the Human Resources Supervisor, the Human Resources Generalist performs a variety of duties to assist in the day to day operations of the unit. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and be able to maintain strict confidentiality within the unit. The applicant should be well organized, conscientious, willing to learn, positive, and a team player. Hands on training and job shadowing will be provided. The applicant must possess strong communication skills.

Qualifications Desired:
• Post-Secondary education in Human Resources and/or Office Administration field and/or previous related experience.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with prior experience communicating effectively to diverse groups
• Exceptional organizational abilities
• Knowledge/experience with Excel, Word, Email and other computer applications
• A valid Ontario Driver's Licence would be an asset.
• Ability to speak one of the Nishnawbe-Aski dialects is preferred.
• Must be willing and able to travel to northern communities to conduct interviews and orientations.

Because of the nature of our services, Tikinagan has to make sure that the children and families
we serve are safe and that the staff we hire don’t pose any risks to clients.  
One of the measures we take is ensuring new staff provide a criminal background check.
All successful applicants will require an application for, or a current, Criminal Record Check (CRC).
A Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) for those positions working with children will also be required. As such, it is recommended that applicants apply for a CRC & VSC as soon as possible.
