Job Description

Job Title: Travel Information Centre Event Coordinator
Report To: Travel Information Centre Manager

Job Description: It is the responsibility of the Special Events Coordinator/Travel Information Centre Assistant to assist with projects that will increase tourism in the Municipality of Sioux Lookout. This includes Travel Information Centre events and Chamber of Commerce Events.  

• Assist with the development and coordination of the Sioux Lookout Chamber of Commerce summer events and fundraisers.

Duties include:
• Work with volunteers and the Board of Directors to coordinate Chamber of Commerce events
• Plan and implement a summer event to increase tourism and community awareness
• Assist in setting up event budgets
• Collecting data at these events and compile it for reporting to the Board of Directors

• Enlist the support of local businesses to actively take part in the various events and activities
• Work with the volunteer committees to plan fundraising events
• Market all local events that are planned by the Sioux Lookout Travel Information Centre
• Assist with the planning, fundraising, organizing and execution of the Blueberry Festival
• Assist with daily operations of the Travel Information Centre; greeting visitors, giving out information on the surrounding communities   and keeping brochure stock up to date
• Promote attractions, facilities and services in the area
• Provide friendly, professional service to all visitors
• Ensure that the Travel Information Centre is organized, clean and well maintained
• Complete cash transactions, record sales
• Familiarize themselves with local outfitters, their locations and services
• Perform opening and closing procedures for the Travel Information Centre
• Must be able to work individually and as part of a team
• Must be able to problem solve and maintain deadlines
• Knowledge of surrounding area and community events an asset
• Follow up on all inquiries made in person, by mail, phone, fax or email including the distribution of literature and referral to other   organizations as appropriate
• General office administration: reception (telephone and public), faxing, photocopying, data input, file and record maintenance, cleaning,   organizing, inventory and resource material upkeep.  
• Must be able to work evenings and weekends
• Represent the Travel Information Centre and the Sioux Lookout Chamber of Commerce in a professional and appropriate manner, at all times
• Other duties as identified by the Travel Information Centre Manager

Applicants must be willing to work evenings and weekends.

Start Date: Tuesday-Friday: 10-6 – 1 Hr Lunch
End Date: Saturday: 8-4 – 1 Hr Lunch
Wage: $14/HR
