Job Description

Part Time

• Grade 12 or equivalent preferred    
• Completion of a recognized food service course or post-secondary education in culinary management or related discipline preferred
• Previous experience in large quantity cooking, preferably in a healthcare facility
• Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to read and write English and to follow written   instructions, standardized recipes, production charts, menus and diets
• Knowledge about the Canada Food Guide and therapeutic diets
• Effective planning, organizing, time management and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment
• Catering and baking experience an asset
• Applicants must have flexibility to work varying shifts throughout the week as well as weekends and statutory holidays

Job Duties
• Ensure all menu items are prepared and served according to departmental policies and procedures
• Ensure that the presentation of all menu items adhere to established standards
• Ensure quality and safety of food by cleaning of surfaces, as well as proper covering and storage of food items
• Ensure that the correct quantities are prepared to meet daily needs
• Complete all required documentation
• Knowledge and application of Food Production and Food Safety, WHMIS, HACCP and FIFO
• Duties also include pot and dishwashing, tray setup and delivery,
• and other duties as assigned

Physical Demands
Considerable walking, lifting, standing, pushing, pulling and bending
Frequently required to lift up to 50lbs

Salary: $21.84 - $23.57, with benefits in accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement
