Sioux-Hudson Employment Services offers a Resource Centre for the public to access computers, resources and information to aid you in your job search. Additionally, you may wish to book an appointment with an Employment Counselor who can help you in your job search, career exploration and other employment endeavors. All services provided are free of charge and are confidential.

Roxanne Hammond
Program Manager

Roxanne completed her Bachelor of Social Work through the University of Manitoba as a compliment to her Bachelor of Art’s degree (major: Psychology) which she achieved from Lakehead University in 1999. Roxanne is a Registered Social Worker and member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Wokers

Currently the Program Manager, Roxanne has been employed by Sioux-Hudson Employment Services since November, 2004. Prior to her appointment as Program Manager, she held the position of Employment Counselor for 6 years. In addition to her work in the employment sector, Roxanne has worked in the social service field for the last 12 years in the areas of mental health, child protection and domestic violence prevention.

In her spare time Roxanne enjoys spending time at home with her two beloved dogs. For recreation, she enjoys bike riding, swimming and quality time with family and friends.



Ian Rose
Employment Counselor

Ian has resided in Sioux Lookout since 2011.  Ian begun his employment with Sioux Hudson Employment Services as an Employment Counselor in the Fall of 2012, or as they would say in England where Ian is from, autumn of 2012.  Ian completed his business studies certification in England.  Since then Ian has gained vast experience in the Customer Service and Administration fields working for national and international companies.  Since Ian has started here at Sioux-Hudson Employment Services, he has built some fantastic relationships with our local employers and community members, and works closely with all to meet their respective employment and human resources needs.  Ian will be looking forward to meeting with you and assisting you to reach your employment and career goals.




Christine Best
Financial Administrator/

Christine began her employment with Sioux-Hudson Employment Services in October 2010 as a contract Bookkeeper. When the full suite of services contract was awarded, Christine brought her expertise to the agency on a full time basis as the Financial Administrator/Client Services.

Christine brings with her 20 years of administrative and financial experience. In 2009 Christine returned to full time studies and graduated from Confederation College’s Business Accounting Diploma.

Christine provides exceptional service to visitors to the resource centre and in 2010 was recognized for her Customer Service Excellence with the Sioux Lookout Chamber of Commerce.





Sara Sakamoto

Employment & Life Skills Facilitator

Sara started her career at Sioux-Hudson Employment Services (SHES) in 2007 as a part-time Client Services Assistant (CSA).  She left temporarily to stay home to raise her young children, but returned to SHES again as a CSA in 2010 for a short-term contract, then returned for good in 2015.

Sara understands the need to find fulfilling work that reflects one’s values and balances with life’s demands.  Having first studied and worked in a field of work that left her feeling unsatisfied, Sara returned to school to pursue a Bachelor degree in Psychology.  She studies part-time and expects to graduate in Spring 2018.  She will then pursue her Masters degree in Counselling Psychology.

Sara enjoys being active both physically and in the community.  She is on the Executive for the Sioux Lookout Figure Skating Club, a Girl Guide leader, and runs, swims, and bikes as much as time will allow.  She is grateful to have a loving family who supports her endeavours.  She also embraces applying her energy to helping her clients find work that allows them to realize their full capabilities.




Daniel Fraser

Employment Counselor

Daniel began his employment with Sioux Hudson Employment Services in the fall of 2016 as an employment counselor. Daniel has been a resident of Sioux Lookout for 46 years and loves the community. Daniel graduated in 2006 from Northern College Alcohol & Drug Counselor and Social Service diplomas. Daniel has spent many years working with youth from Sioux Lookout and the surrounding northern communities, in the spring of 2013 Daniel was recognized for his dedication for helping others by being awarded the Mary Carpenter Award for people making changes which is presented annually to a community member who has inspired change while helping to build a community that upholds equity and fairness to all people. Daniel also enjoys all sports, camping, fishing, writing, recording and performing his own music.
