Deciding what you want to do for “the rest of your life” can be intimidating, but once you determine your passions and skills, you have taken the first step to finding your dream job. Step 1 has all the information you need to determine the Career for you.

Once you discover what type of job you want, Step 2 will help you find that job. Included are some tips on how to more effectively job search from a distance.  Also included is contact information for Sioux Lookout businesses.  (Please note that the lists of businesses are not exhaustive.)

There are two types of resumes: chronological and functional.  The former type is the more well-known of the two but depending on your prior experience and education, the functional resume may be your better choice.  Step 3 has information about the two types of resumes and how to write either one.

Although an employer may not specifically request a cover letter, it is recommended that you always submit one with your resume.  The cover letter is an excellent way to introduce yourself and to excite an employer to read your resume.  Step 4 has information about how to write an effective cover letter.

Congratulations!  Your cover letter and resume enticed the employer to want to meet you and learn more about your qualifications.  It is normal to feel nervous before an interview but if you follow some simple guidelines, the interview can be a pleasant experience.  Step 5 has tips to ensure an enjoyable interview.  You can also check out some sample interview questions.  In addition, learn how to write a “Thank-You” letter post-interview.  If you are interested in practicing your interview skills, contact us (provide link to contact page) to set up an appointment with an employment counselor to perform a mock interview.
